England Women's match-winner

ENGLAND MATCHWINNER ELLEN WHITE SPEAKS TO FATV AFTER SUNDAY'S WIN AGAINST CANADA

Ellen White headed England Women to victory at the New York Stadium on Sunday and says the Lionesses can take their current form into the Euros.

The Arsenal striker scored in stoppage time on Sunday to help Hope Powell’s team get a second win over Canada in the space of a few weeks.

And the 23-year-old believes results against the likes of Canada can give the Lionesses confidence for the next few months.

White told FATV: "We beat them in the Cyprus Final which was good, a couple of weeks ago.

“But we want that consistent level to beat the top teams and we're just pleased to get that win and move on to the Euros.

“It's great preparation really.”

It was a win which England had to really work for, after a goal-less first half and a battle to break down Canada after the break.

She added: "It was hard, because Canada are a great side.

"We spoke about it at half time and in the second half we raised our tempo and played more attacking football.

"And we got the goal in the last minute so that was pleasing.”
