There is another match to come but Real Madrid would be entitled to feel that their work here is done. Rooney set for return

Sir Alex Ferguson hopes Wayne Rooney will have recovered from a groin injury in time for Monday's Manchester derby after the injury forced the striker to sit out United's trips to Sunderland and Chelsea over the Easter weekend.

The striker picked up the problem while away on international duty with England and consequently missed the league win at the Stadium of Light and the FA Cup defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Sir Alex said Rooney felt the injury again in training on Sunday, but hoped he would be available for the clash with Manchester City at Old Trafford on 8 April.

Jonny Evans, meanwhile, missed the 1-0 loss at Chelsea because of a hamstring strain picked up in Saturday's victory over the Black Cats.

The Northern Ireland international replaced the injured Rafael in the first half at Sunderland and although he completed the remainder of the game, Sir Alex said afterwards that Evans had played through the pain barrier for much of the second period.

Full report from today’s FA Cup replay

Report: Chelsea 1 United 0

Manchester United's bid to win the Double - and bring home the FA Cup for the first time since 2004 - ended on Easter Monday afternoon when a solitary goal from Demba Ba sent Chelsea into the semi-finals to meet Manchester City.

The quarter-final replay didn't match the excitement of any of these club's previous three meetings this season, although the second half was a considerable improvement on the first period - featuring not only Ba's brilliant and decisive volley, but also a world-class save from Petr Cech to deny Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez a headed equaliser.

Chelsea identify Ajax star as Frank Lampard replacement!

Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly joined Liverpool in pursuit of Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen, and the Blues want the young Dane to succeed Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, meanwhile, can count on their sizable financial clout to place themselves very much in the running to claim the signature of Eriksen, and the youngster is reported to have been identified as a replacement for Lampard.

The 34-year-old midfield veteran is out of contract at the end of the season and, as of yet, it is unclear if the Chelsea legend will be offered the chance to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Sir Alex Ferguson admits Chelsea deserved to win the FA Cup

Sir Alex Ferguson admits Chelsea deserved to win the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford but he will send out his Manchester United team in Monday's replay to prove they are the better side.

The Reds have already won at Stamford Bridge this season, beating the Blues 3-2 in the Barclays Premier League, but a less experienced line-up lost there three days later in the Capital One Cup, going down 5-4 after extra-time.

With former Liverpool chief Rafa Benitez since installed as interim manager, there is added spice to the occasion. The Spaniard's first meeting with United as Chelsea boss ended 2-2 three weeks ago when only a late David De Gea save prevented Juan Mata from

Argentina vs Venezuela 3:0 GOALS VIDEOS & DETAILS

Argentina lost to Venezuela in October, but there was no chance of the CONMEBOL qualifying leaders repeating that performance in Buenos Aires on Friday. Inspired by Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain, the hosts cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory, keeping them four points ahead of the impressive Colombia.

Venezuela were looking in reasonable shape for most of the opening thirty minutes. Daniel Hernandez only had two saves to make during that spell -- one on Lionel Messi and then another when Pablo Zabaleta tried to convert the rebound. Eventually, however, Argentina's class told.
